Fatal accident in Krupiński coalmine

On Friday the 20th of July, at about 4.03 p.m. in shaft I of Krupiński coalmine in Suszec, a fatal accident occurred and a 45 year-old signalman and shaft facilities controller have died. The accident took place during a routine check of the shaft reinforcement.

There is high probability that the accident occurred because the man had leaned out by the revision window located in the side wall of the skip base. It happened during the upward movement of the skip box.  The cause of death was worker’s head injury.

The investigation to explain the circumstances and the causes of the accident is being carried out by a group of specialists – Specialized Mining Office in Katowice, State Mining Authority, National Labor Inspectorate, Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Pszczyna and the Company.

The signalman was long-term worker of Krupiński mine, previously  worked in Żory coalmine that had undergone liquidation. The miner has worked in mining for 27 years.
