Education in animation

Education, education and once again education is absolutely the best idea for disseminating the awareness of the significance of coking coal in the modern economy.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. is the largest producer of coking coal in the European Union, which is why we have taken it upon ourselves to remind people that without coking coal it is impossible to produce steel in an economically viable manner.

The production of each ton of steel requires as much as 400 kg of coke, which is made from 560 kg of coking coal. The latter has been recognized by the European Commission as a commodity of key significance for the European Union’s economic development and as such has been entered in the List of Strategic Commodities, i.e. those that are difficult to substitute and the deliveries of which are subject to an elevated degree of risk. Coking coal, next to iron ore, is the key raw material for the steel industry. The coal produced in JSW S.A. contributes to a reduction of the European Union’s dependence on the imports of this raw material from third countries, which is extremely important in politically unstable times.

Our latest production explains the role of coking coal in the modern economy and everyday life.
