End of the rescue operation

After hours of the rescue operation in the Knurów-Szczygłowice mine, Knurów Section, rescue workers have reached the missing miner. Unfortunately, the doctor pronounced him dead.

The 40-year-old miner was an employee of JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo, and worked at the mine for 2 years. 

The rescue operation involved 26 rescue teams from JSW SA mines and the Central Mine Rescue Station in Bytom.

Five of the eight miners who were taken to local hospitals have been discharged home. 

The circumstances and causes of the accident are being investigated by the Regional Mining Authority in Rybnik, the State Labor Inspectorate and an accident team appointed by the employer. 

The employees, Management Board and Supervisory Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa express their deepest sympathy to the family, loved ones and colleagues of the deceased miner.
