Awareness campaign “Electrician, remember and live!"

An information campaign "Electrician, remember and live!" is being launched in the mines of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, with the aim of reminding people about the rules for safe work on electric power equipment. Its launch was triggered by the alarming accidents involving workers burned by electric arcs.

The "Electrician, remember and live!" awareness campaign is a response to a series of serious workplace accidents. There have already been five incidents this year in which workers were burned by an electric arc.

- Performing electrical work on live equipment and installations is unacceptable and can end tragically. We want to reach out to the consciousness of our employees - especially electricians - so that they never treat their duties routinely and take extra care. Let's remember that safety is not routine - it's the foundation of any job, especially in mining - stressed Adam Rozmus, Vice-President of the JSW SA Management Board for Technical and Operational Matters.

To raise awareness of the risks and promote good practices, special information boards developed in conjunction with the State Mining Authority will appear at all JSW mines. These boards are a reminder of the basic rules that apply before starting electrical work. In addition, information on the safe organization of work on electrical power equipment will be made available as part of periodic OHS announcements and instructions. This is another step in building a safety culture, which is prioritized at JSW.
