Take part in an online conference

Already next Thursday, 28 January, a 2-day Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering AGH University of Science and Technology entitled “Mining – let’s start our tomorrow already today” will start. The co-organizers of the event include JSW, JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo and JSW IT Systems.

The participants in the free online conference will include employees of mines and companies associated with mining, scientists, experts and representatives of mining authorities. The conference topics have been divided into thematic sessions, which include: geomechanical hazards in underground mining, energy efficiency, circular economy and qualifications in the mining industry.

The aim of the conference is to present the current and future directions of scientific activity in cooperation with partners from the mining industry, in particular with Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. It is worth emphasizing that 2020 was a unique year due to the epidemic situation and the numerous resulting restrictions impacted the operations in the mining industry, also AGH’s scientific activity. After adapting to the new situation, mining companies returned to business as usual, and bulk of the teaching at the universities was moved online. Unfortunately, in these conditions, the development of cooperation, research and scientific projects was limited. In addition, the changes in the mining sector in Poland and the European Union started to significantly impact the mining activity but also the teaching and scientific activity of related areas of science. Utilization and highlighting of the competences held will show the ongoing changes and point to transformation areas. The conference broadcast can been followed at the websites: www.jsw.pl and www.wgig.agh.edu.pl.
