Homeless shelter well looked after

The JSW Foundation provided financial support to the Homeless Shelter run by the charity organization Caritas of the Sosnowiec Diocese. With the money obtained from donations made by the Foundation, a van and fit-out assets were purchased for the Shelter and its premises.

The ceremonial delivery of the van took place on Thursday 16 January 2020 in Dąbrowa Górnicza-Ząbkowice where the Homeless Shelter is located. The ceremony, in addition to Fr. Grzegorz Kaszak, Bishop of the Sosnowiec Diocese and other invited guests, was attended by Artur Wojtków, Vice-President of the JSW Management Board for Employment and Social Policy, Gabriel Cyrulik, Board Member of the JSW Foundation, and Katarzyna Dutkiewicz, coordinator of the Board Office of the JSW Foundation. During the ceremony, Fr. Tomasz Folga, Director of Caritas in Sosnowiec, expressed his gratitude to the representatives of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa and the JSW Foundation. He also emphasized the great significance of the support received by Caritas in its important, necessary and difficult mission of providing assistance to individuals excluded from the society. Vice-President Artur Wojtków thanked everyone involved in the day-to-day activities of Caritas of the Sosnowiec Diocese aimed at assisting the homeless and expressed his appreciation for the effects of joint initiatives targeted at the neediest – the sick, the disabled and the lonely.

The Homeless Shelter in Dąbrowa Górnicza-Ząbkowice has been operating since 2002 and offers 55 places for homeless people. In January 2020, 15 new such places were created thanks to the support provided by the JSW Foundation and Caritas Polska, which funded this project in full. The facility is the first institution of this quality in the Dąbrowskie Basin that meets all the requirements provided for in the Social Assistance Act.
