Demanding conditions are hindering us from reaching the miners

Our rescue workers have not yet managed to reach the three trapped miners. Water has appeared in the mining pit.

Our rescue workers have encountered water in the mining pit they are attempting to access. We made the decision to transport pumps to the mining pit in order to be able to pump out the water from there as fast as possible. We have to use compressed air pumps for reasons of safety”, said Daniel Ozon, CEO of JSW. At this time, the pumps are being transported to the event site. After they are installed, the rescue workers will immediately commence the process of pumping out the water. The rescue workers have located a signal from two lamps that are in the flooded area. Beyond the flooded area, the rescue workers have roughly another 20 meters of roadway to cover. 23 crews are working there at this time.

On account of the fire hazard, the management of Zofiówka has made the decision to start the operation of two longwalls in regions distant from the accident site.

More information will be released tomorrow after 8 a.m. during the press conference.
