Digital transformation in mining

Already on Wednesday, 24 February, the 2-day online conference “Mining Geomatics – the role of geoinformation in digital transformation of spatial mining data” will start.

During the conference speakers will present the possible positive impact of the correlation of knowledge, experience and latest achievements of information technologies on transformation of the enterprise and improve the product quality of a mining company. The conference is divided into 4 thematic sessions: geology, mining, information technology and geodesy.

The first day of the conference will focus on issues associated with quality management and coking coal production planning and scheduling in Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa mines. During the second day of the conference solutions supporting the management of spatial information and papers describing, among others, the opportunities offered by laser scanners in the mining industry will be presented. Panelists will prove that digitization in mines improves work efficiency and quality of processing of increasingly large data banks. Knowledge backed by technology offers huge analytical opportunities and introduces us to a new reality, ahead of the present, in terms of independent prediction and simulation of the effects of the decisions made.

In addition to interesting thematic sessions, the organizers announced a discussion panel entitled “From seam to sea – or how geoinformation digital data transformation impacts the operations of mining enterprises”.

The invitation to the conference is extended by the organizers: Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, JSW IT Systems, JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo and the Mining Geomatics Committee at the Polish Association for Spatial Information at the AGH University of Science and Technology.

The conference will be held online on 24 and 25 February 2021.
