Mining operations carried out at ever-increasing depths pose many challenges for mines. Degradation of workings due to difficult geological conditions affects the safety and functionality of underground infrastructure.
In response to these problems, a seminar on modern and proven rockbolting technologies was held at KWK Pniówek on Friday, 23 May. The idea for the conference came from Adam Rozmus, Vice-President of the JSW SA Management Board for Technical and Operational Matters.

“The challenges of operating at great depths require us to be knowledgeable and to continuously improve technical solutions, such as effective rockbolting systems. Today's seminar is an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and build standards that will translate into efficiency and safety in underground work," said Adam Rozmus, Vice-President of the JSW SA Management Board for Technical and Operational Matters.

The seminar was divided into two main thematic sessions. The first covered basic rockbolting concepts, while the second focused on practical solutions and experiences from various mines.

Participants at the event had the opportunity to learn about current rockbolting methods and to exchange experiences in the field of reinforcing mine working ceilings and ribs. The seminar provided a platform to discuss the effectiveness of technical solutions that guarantee the stability of workings, efficient transportation and optimal ventilation in mines.

The event was organized under the honorary patronage of Piotr Litwa, PhD, president of the State Mining Authority, as well as the Polish Academy of Sciences, GIG PIB, the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. The seminar was attended by a few dozen people.
