JSW with a loan of more than 824 million zlotys

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa SA has signed an agreement with the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) regarding a loan under the amended Act on the System of Development Institutions. The total funding amounts to PLN 824 million, and the funds will be disbursed in tranches. As agreed, the phased release of funding allows for gradual disbursement of funds while ensuring oversight of their use.

The loan is a key element in the implementation of the February 2026 Implementation Memorandums of Agreement and has been made possible thanks to an amendment to the Act on the System of Development Institutions, introduced by Silesian members of parliament and drafted by the Ministry of State Assets in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy. In practice, this means establishing a financing mechanism for entities whose destabilization could have significant economic and social consequences.

- Today’s agreement is the first step that has the potential to truly stabilize the Company’s financial standing at one of the most difficult moments in its history - emphasizes Bogusław Oleksy, President of JSW SA. - However, the funds raised do not resolve the Company’s structural problems; they merely provide temporary relief from liquidity pressure. Further far-reaching restructuring measures and the situation on the global steel and coking coal markets will be crucial for JSW's future - adds President Oleksy.

The signing of the agreement with ARP marks the next stage in the implementation of JSW’s restructuring program.

JSW SA is the largest producer of coking coal in the European Union - a raw material that is essential to the steel industry. The Company’s financial condition has a direct impact on the functioning of a broad industrial chain and the labor market, particularly in the Silesia region.
