The new longwall is 215 meters long and has a strike of 1,800 meters. The average thickness of the seam is more than 3 meters, and its resources bring in more than 1.6 million tons of type 35.1 coking coal. It has been equipped with a modern longwall shearer, which includes 122 JZR 21/54-POz3 sections, a FS 300/3.3 longwall shearer and a PSJZR-850 face conveyor. The excavated material from the longwall will be hauled off by the PPJZR-850 bottom conveyor with the KD BW 800-1200 crusher and further by the Bogda-1200 belt conveyor to the main haulage. The longwall uses many of the technical solutions that have been developed as part of the "Efficient Mine" initiatives, which is a core program of the Strategic Transformation Plan. The longwall will be in operation until May 2027.

- The commencement of mining of the Bw-1 longwall in the 405/2 seam is not only the next stage in the development of the Budryk mine, but also an important step towards increasing the yield of coking coal, to the target level of 95 percent of total production. The commissioning of the longwall coincides with the commencement of operational tests of another strategic investment project that is being completed - the expansion and modernization of the coal preparation plant, aimed at maximizing the production of coking coal - said Adam Rozmus, JSW SA Vice-President for Technical and Operational Matters.

There are currently two longwalls in operation at the Budryk mine. Development work to make more mining fronts available is being carried out at seven working faces.

There are 20 longwalls in operation in all JSW SA mines.
