After a six-year brea, Jastrzębie-Zdrój welcomed back an event that brought back many pleasant memories to the town’s residents and Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa employees.

The Great JSW Picnic began with a sports tournament for Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa employees, with different company plants competing against each other in seven spectacular competitions. The Pniówek Mine, Budryk Mine and Knurów, Szczygłowice, Borynia, Zofiówka and Jastrzębie Sections, as well as the Management Board Office together with ZWP had their teams in the competition.

- The level of the rivalry between the plants was very high. Contestants from all teams were fantastically prepared, showed very good athletic form and great motivation for success. In each competition, you had to give everything you could, or even more. I am proud of my team, which did great today and fought for every single point. We would also like to thank the fans from all the JSW plants for the fantastic cheering and applause - said Marcin Gawlas from the Zofiówka Section team, which took the second place in the tournament. The Knurów Section team came out victorious. - We played smart in all the competitions; besides we had worked on speed and agility beforehand. Excellent team selection proved to be our strategic advantage - said Krystyna Bieniek, captain of the Knurów Section team. The third place in the Tournament for the JSW President’s Cup was taken by the Budryk Mine.

After the sports emotions, it was time for good music – and the stars were ready to provide the entertainment. First, the band Łzy took the stage, followed by Blue Cafe, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of artistic work. The concert of Golec uOrkiestra was the musical culmination of the picnic. Brothers Łukasz and Paweł Golec had also celebrated 20 years of their music carerer last year, so the residents of Jastrzębie-Zdrój got to hear the band’s greatest hits. The Great JSW Picnic ended with a spectacular fireworks show.
