Rescue workers are trying to reach the miners

From this morning rescue workers have searched an area of roughly thirty meters. Nevertheless, specialist search equipment has not detected any signal from the three trapped miners. Nor have any radio transmitters installed in miners’ lamps been found.

The search is being conducted in several sites at the same time. Rescue workers are operating in extremely difficult conditions while manually sorting through the rubble.

We are working with enormous determination the entire time. We believe that these miners are alive. That is why the most important thing is to supply compressed air to the region of the collapse”, said Daniel Ozon, CEO of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa and added: “Miners instinctively know how to conduct themselves in such a situation and if only they have such an opportunity they draw near to a pipe with air flow. That enables them to survive”.

Now another rescue crew has left base and will conduct a search on the H2 ventilation slope. Compressed air is constantly being supplied via a technical pipe. If no obstacles are encountered, they should penetrate the collapsed area within four hours.

The families of the miners who are the subject of this search are being kept up-to-date on the progress of the rescue operation. The families are the first ones to receive current reports, and after that current information is released to the public. Some of the families are still at the mine. One family has decided to go home. All of the families are receiving psychological care.
