Preventive measures taken by JSW in its units

The Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa has taken preventive measures to curtail the dissemination of coronavirus. To meet the expectations of employees, the directors of the Company’s units and Management Board Office may instruct their subordinates to work remotely during the period from 12 to 25 March.

- The safety and health of our employees and their families are our utmost priority. Remote work at home will reduce the risk of coronavirus infection. The suspended operation of schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions is a major challenge for many parents. Permitting the option of remote work will enable our employees to combine their work and family care responsibilities. Empathy, mutual support and solidarity with people in a difficult situation will allow us to survive this hard time - said Włodzimierz Hereźniak, President of the JSW S.A. Management Board.

On 12 March, security services began checking the body temperature of employees entering their workplaces. The measurement is performed using non-contact devices. Any person whose body temperature is above 38 degrees Celsius or who has other symptoms that may indicate infection will be directed to one of the tents set up before the entry to each mine. Such individuals will be taken care of by our medical services. Moreover, the procedure recommended by the Minister of Health will also be implemented. In JSW’s units, isolation rooms have been set up for employees who report feeling unwell after leaving the underground section of the mine.

The Production Support Unit has purchased tents, non-contact thermometers, biological suits, medical masks and half masks for use by all JSW’s units. In the mines, sanitary control measures have been intensified: door handles and handrails are regularly disinfected, an increased quantity of soap and paper towels has been provided.

An information campaign is in progress regarding emergency procedures (posters, e-mails, announcements over the in-company public address system). A ban on unauthorized access to JSW’s facilities has been imposed. Mobile contact offices have been set up for such purposes.
