KWK Krupiński to SRK. The jobs are safe.

On August 8 the Board of JSW adopted a resolution to initiate the transfer of Krupiński mine in Suszec to the Mines Restructuring Company by the end of January 2017. This is one of the elements implemented in JSW within the recovery plan.

This decision was made as a result of the analysis conducted by the Company, indicating that the coal mine "Krupiński" is in a state of permanent unprofitability and analyzed scenarios do not have the possibility to recover it in the future. Importantly, none of the employees of the mine will lose work. They will be transferred to other plants of the Company. Any departure will occur only on a voluntary basis, with the ability to take advantage of one-time severance payment and miner’s leaves guaranteed by the Law on the Functioning of Coal Mining. Until now, the desire to take advantage of the social protection benefits in JSW has been declared by 2,794 people.

-The Krupiński crew is hardworking, disciplined and above all experienced. We need it in JSW - says Tomasz Gawlik, President of JSW.

- That's why we want to move the entire brigades to other mines. Employees are most interested in how the organization of the whole process will look like, and approach it with great understanding - adds CEO of JSW.

During the last ten years, the total financial loss of  Krupiński amounted to about PLN 900 million. The mine produces mainly energetic coal, for which demand is steadily decreasing. Another problem is the high coal dilution - approx. 65%.
The increase in coking coal production ensures the profitability of JSW - its price is higher, and the cost of production comparable.
