High level and fierce battle. OHS competition resolved

Jarosław Gąska from the Zofiówka Section, following a fierce battle, won the 9th edition of the “Competition on Knowledge of OHS rules and regulations for the Cup of the JSW S.A. President”, held on 14 December in JSW’s seat. The second place went to Waldemar Jarosz from the Pniówek Mine, who scored the same number of points as the winner, but over a longer time. The third place went to Grzegorz Błaszczyk, also from the Pniówek Mine.

In the team classification, the KWK Pniówek team had no competition, having scored 100 points. The second place went to the contestants from the Budryk mine with a score of 81 points, and the third place to the Zofiówka Section with 66 points.   

The contest was run in two stages. 21 contestants qualified for the semi-finals – one from each mine / section. They had to answer 30 closed-ended multiple choice questions. Six best contestants were promoted to the finals, which were played according to the rules taken from the “One out of ten” TV quiz show.

In the finals, after a fierce and exciting fight, Jarosław Gąska emerged as the winner. The winners collected the awards from Tomasz Śledź, JSW Vice-President for Technical Matters, and Krzysztof Król, Vice-President of the State Mining Authority, and Ryszard Chadera from the Regional Labor Inspectorate in Katowice.

– I would like to congratulate the winners and all contest participants.I would like your impressive knowledge to translate directly into higher safety among your colleagues working underground – said Tomasz Śledź, JSW Vice-President.

Krzysztof Król, Vice-President of the State Mining Authority, also congratulated the contest winners and participants on their huge knowledge and then mentioned Mr. Zbigniew Schinohl, former director of the Regional Mining Authority in Rybnik and author of the Internet platform “Crew head’s zone and more” – We can’t forget how much this man did for the safety of work in mines. First as the director of the Regional Mining Authority in Rybnik and now as the author of the innovative platform “Crew head’s zone”. The President of the State Mining Authority decided to honor Mr. Zbigniew Schinohl with the honorary medal for “Services for Safety in Mining” – said Krzysztof Król.
