The most advanced work has been seen in the "Efficient Mine" workstream, which has launched a pilot program to increase mining production. It has been implemented at five selected longwalls - at the Pniówek and Budryk mines, as well as the Knurów, Borynia and Zofiówka Sections. In addition to previously developed technical solutions, among other things, a modified incentive system for longwall crews has been applied.
The results were very promising - in April, production at the longwalls included in the pilot program amounted to 325,000 net tons of coal, up 17 percent from the planned 278,000 tons.
The pilot is continuing in May, and has been further rolled out to selected working faces, with a view to speeding up development work.
“I am positive about the effects of the pilot, so from June we intend to roll it out to include longwalls and working faces where geological and mining conditions allow us to accelerate work without adversely affecting the safety of the work. We are talking about approx. 75% of the longwalls. Meanwhile, starting in July, further changes will be implemented, this time in auxiliary functions that have a direct impact on production level," explains Ryszard Janta, President of the JSW Management Board, and adds: “Only consistent and coherent implementation of the PST based on the competence and commitment of our employees will allow the Company to come out on top and achieve long-term profits.”
In addition to increasing production, there are also cost-saving projects underway at JSW. In the area of procurement, PST activities have yielded tangible savings of more than PLN 307 million as of 22 May, which is 85 percent of the target amount for 2025. In the case of investments, savings of more than PLN 1.2 billion have already been achieved. Work is currently underway to optimize expenditures on longwall outfitting, expensable mining pits and optimize other capital expenditures.
Parallel to the activities carried out at JSW, the PST also includes projects at JSW Group companies aimed at improving the efficiency of the entire Group.
