A lot of interest focused on two debates regarding the future of mining. In total, the conference attracted nearly 5 thousand online observers. Over the three days the organizers managed to show a broad spectrum of innovative changes and state-of-the-art solutions used or proposed in global mining. On the first day of the conference, viewers could familiarize themselves with the drilling technology with the use of the Bolter Miner, working in the Budryk mine. The next part presented the possibilities of cybersecurity systems and state-of-the-art mining machinery and equipment control, monitoring and diagnostic systems.

The second day of the conference was devoted to innovative solutions in mining systems and longwall shearers. Representatives of the Romanian company Subsidiary Hydraulics and Pneumatics Research presented their solutions regarding the use of smart devices in the motor hydraulics modernization process. The engineers’ attention was attracted by the solution for a smart module monitoring proportional valves in hydraulic drive systems. The third day of the conference was devoted to winding engines, recovery of minerals, processing systems and modern approach to development of qualifications in mining.

The conference ended with a spontaneously organized wrap-up session with professor Stanisław Prusek, President of the Central Mining Institute, Artur Wasil, President of LW Bogdanka, professor Dariusz Prostański from the Komag Institute of Mining Technology, and Artur Dyczko, JSW Vice-President. The panelists revisited the hottest topic of the conference, i.e. the drilling technology using the Bolter Miner, which bookended the event.

In these difficult times, organizing a conference is quite a challenge. But our efforts were not wasted as we were watched by nearly five thousand people. We managed to generate a discussion about the future of Polish mining. All of us – coal companies, mining-related entrepreneurs, research institutes – are interested in development of a safe, modern and efficient mining industry in Poland, said Artur Dyczko, Vice-President of the JSW Management Board for Technical and Operational Matters.

The conference organized by the Komag Institute of Mining Technology, JSW and JSW Szkolenie i Górnictwo, was attended by representatives of all Polish mining companies, technical universities, and businesses and institutions cooperating with the mining industry, such as the State Mining Authority and the Central Mining Institute. The conference was prepared from the technical perspective by the employees of JSW IT Systems and JSW’s Communication and PR Department.
