JSW Knowledge Mine at the Climate Summit 2018!

|   COP24 - wspólne

For 4 December 2018, the JSW Knowledge Mine invited several hundred children attending primary schools and preschools in Śląskie Voivodeship to its Good Climate Pavilion in Katowice’s Market Square.

Throughout the day, all children visiting the Pavilion, aged between 3 and 12, and their teachers took part in some crazy scientific demonstrations and workshops, including jute bag painting, pin making and handmade paper production from waste materials. In addition, JSW as the event organizer invited the city’s residents to a demonstration of over twenty interactive exhibits explaining the laws of nature and physics as well as an exhibition of educational boards. The kids absorbed the knowledge offered to them with smiles on their faces, were disappointed to hear the event was eventually over and declared that in a dozen or so years they will try to win the Nobel Prize in physics or chemistry.

The JSW Knowledge Mine is a proprietary project of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. Its primary objective is the promotion of education, predominantly in the fields of science, ecology and beyond. The goal of event animators at the Knowledge Mine is to make children excited about learning, experiencing and discovering the natural laws of the world. The project is aimed at supporting the development of talents among children and provide equal opportunities in access to modern and exciting forms of extra-curricular activity.

The next edition of the workshop will be held on 12 December 2018 in the Good Climate Pavilion in Katowice’s Market Square. Tens of children have already signed up for the workshop.
