19 mine rescue crews are currently working underground

Mine rescue workers continue to pump water out of the flooded area. The water surface is slowly receding. The effectiveness of this work has fallen on account of the dense sludge in the water.

During the night the rescue workers transported and installed the highest quality Australian composite slurry pumps to make it possible to pump out water containing contaminants in the form of winnings.

The receding water surface has released methane and at present its concentration in the atmosphere impedes us from operating the electric pump. This device is on site and is ready for operation. The set of pumps is still being powered by compressed air. At present, these are the only devices that can be used having regard for the prevailing conditions at the site of the event.
