Approach

In an effort to meet the expectations of our stakeholders regarding the key issues related to the Group's activities, we are pleased to present the Integrated Annual Report, which is the fifth integrated report published by JSW. The report presents the key issues that illustrate the interdependencies and relationships between financial and non-financial aspects of the Group's operations.

The purpose of the Integrated Report is to provide all shareholders, investors and cooperating companies with comprehensive information about the Group, to explain and detail the context of the activities it undertakes, and to show that value creation goes far beyond the financial aspects and includes issues such as respect for the environment, science and people, safety, honesty, accountability and transparency, which are the foundations on which we build trust, lasting relationships with our clients, satisfaction among our employees and good relations with the local community.

Reporting methodology

The layout and content of this report have been prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), which address issues such as materiality, accuracy, consistency and future orientation. Financial information is presented in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). On the other hand, non-financial reporting has been prepared:

  • in accordance with the guidelines laid down in Article 49(b) and Article 55 of the Accounting Act of 29 September 1994, as amended, implementing Directive 2014/95/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 October 2014 as regards disclosure of non-financial and diversity information,
  • based on some of the selected indicators of the Global Reporting Initiative - GRI 2021 and selected sector indicators of the GRI 2022 standard, in order to provide specific information. Selected own ratios have been also presented to ensure that the description is comprehensive.

The report has not been subject to any additional external review by statutory auditors.

Both JSW and the Group as a whole have diverse stakeholders whose opinions are an important voice in helping us run our business better, more effectively and more safely. As a supplier of a strategic raw material – coking coal – necessary in the production of steel, which is the foundation of sustainable development and plays a pivotal role in the transition to a zero-emission economy, we at JSW want to be sure that the measures we take meet the expectations of our stakeholders. We want to conduct our business responsibly, with full respect for the law and for all stakeholders and parties involved.

The scope of the reported sustainability aspects has been defined on the basis of a survey on material areas of responsibility conducted at the end of 2021, in which employees, representatives of the capital market, social organizations, contractors and business partners, including those from abroad, were invited to participate to let us know which areas were particularly important from their point of view. The content of the report is also in line with the issues identified as material and important during the work on the Group's new sustainability strategy, which was adopted in February 2021 and remains current.
