Activity of the Group
As at 31 December 2017, the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. Group consisted of the Parent Company and its subsidiaries located in the territory of Poland. Group member companies are classified into distinct operating segments, i.e. the Coal Segment, the Coke Segment and Other Support Areas.
The Parent Company in the Group is Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa S.A. (“Company”, “JSW”, “Issuer”), which was established on 1 April 1993. On 17 December 2001, JSW was entered in the National Court Register kept by the District Court in Gliwice, 10th Commercial Division of the National Court Register, under file number KRS 0000072093. The Company has received the following statistical number: REGON 271747631. The Company’s registered office is located at Al. Jana Pawła II 4 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. According to the Articles of Association, the Company may operate in the territory of the Republic of Poland and abroad. The Company’s duration is unspecified.
JSW’s core line of business is the mining, enrichment and sale of hard coal and the sale of coke and hydrocarbons.
The Company’s shares have been traded publicly since 6 July 2011. The Company is the holding company in the JSW Group.

All the production, development, investment and commercial measures taken by JSW are focused on maintaining its leadership position in coking coal production in the long-term in Central and Eastern Europe.
The variety of coal and coke products offered makes it possible to sell them to many branches of industry, thereby enabling the Group to operate on many planes and optimally manage its commercial policy, adjusting it to current market conditions.
Facing the ever more stringent requirements that are rising across the globe when it comes to the quality of coke produced, JSW’s position on the European coking coal market has been improving systemically for several years. The Group has regular customers, a well- established market position and a recognizable brand.
The Group companies operate in a complex socio-economic environment and its mining operations face demanding geological and mining conditions. In recent years, JSW and the Group went through a host of organizational transformations whose fundamental purpose was to optimize operating expenses and enhance the overall efficiency of managing the company.
