We will cooperate with the AGH

Jastrzębska Coal Company and the University of Science and Technology in Kraków, signed a letter of intent on December 9, on the organization of mining practices for AGH (University of Science and Technology) students who will work at the mines of the company during the holidays.

Students of the four faculties will receive the opportunity to work at JSW: Mining and Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection, Mining Surveying and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and Robotics.

- We feel the responsibility for the good preparation of human resources for underground mining, in particular raising the level of knowledge of Geological and Mining Law among graduates and the principles of safe work underground, which is why we have decided to strengthen cooperation with the university. With this practice, students will compare theory with practice, they will gain experience faster and we will have a chance to look at the future employees - says Tomasz Gawlik, CEO of JSW.

Detailed principles of employment  for AGH students will be clarified in a later agreement. Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa undertook to define the rules and places of employment.

As pointed out by Dean of the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering, prof. Marek Cała, the agreement is mainly aimed at closer cooperation between the university and JSW. For students it is an opportunity for good vocational training and gaining experience in the difficult art of mining.
