With the JSW Group’s Environmental Strategy up to 2030 adopted in February 2022, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa joins the global climate agenda. We have planned for a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and we have committed to working toward climate neutrality by 2050. This plan builds on the commitments from our current business strategy, in which we declared reduction of our carbon footprint by 1.5 million tons CO2e by 2025.

We do realize that our production processes cause significant energy consumption and emissions of pollutants into the air and water. As a European leader in the production of the critical raw material - coking coal and coke, we are aware of our responsibility for the rational management of natural resources and minimizing our environmental impact. We are convinced that the coking coal and coke we produce will long remain a key raw material in the production of steel used in the energy and climate transition of the EU economy. This is why, thinking about the future, we are following technological trends and regulatory changes, among others related to sustainability (ESG).

The JSW Group has been involved in environmental activities for many years, in four min areas: protection of the air, respect for water and biodiversity, circular economy and land, which is aligned with the main environmental goals of the UN 2030 Agenda and the so-called Taxonomy and is a response to the challenges of the environmental and energy and climate transformation of Poland and the European Union.
