Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa’s grand Barbórka Assembly was held in the “Pniówek” mine. The event was attended, among others, by the Vice-Minister of Energy Grzegorz Tobiszowski, MPs, representatives of the clergy, trade union organizations and the Management Board of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. The Assembly included an honorary distinction and miner’s sword presentation ceremony.
The Mobile Embassy of Laudato Si' Caritas Polska, i.e. the electric bus from Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, set out for its first journey. From today onwards the bus will travel around Poland promoting environment-friendly teachings of the Church. The bus finished its first trip along the streets of Warsaw.
Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa, upon agreement with the Minister of the Environment, has become the first official partner of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 24). This is UN’s most important international conference. JSW’s partnership supports Polish Presidency, guaranteeing the company’s active participation in the event and the possibility to promote environment-friendly changes in the mining sector.
Jastrzębskie Zakłady Remontowe (a JSW Group company) has established a new Conveyor Development Unit, with a team of 5 design engineers with long experience in designing coal haulage equipment working since the beginning of November. The design engineers are equipped with the SOLIDWORKS software for 3D designing, which is an accepted standard for this type of work, and have clear goals set for the near future.
The JSW Group posts a net profit of PLN 1.44 billion in the first three quarters of 2018. Coal and coke production in JSW SA’s mines and plants has remained steady at a level similar to the one reported in the corresponding period of last year. EBITDA for the first nine months of this year is PLN 2.654 billion (net of non-recurring events).
Today, on November 22nd, a celebration of St. Barbara’s Day was held by the State Mining Authority in the concert hall of the Silesian Philharmonic of Henryk Mikolaj Gorecki in Katowice. During the event, Daniel Ozon, President of the Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa Management Board received the Honorary Badge of Merit for Safety in Mining from Adam Mirek, President of the State Mining Authority.
Continuous access to appropriate quantities of mineral resources of desirable quality is an important factor ensuring Poland’s sustainable growth. This is the main conclusion of the Raw Materials Congress held from 20 to 23 November in Rytro. The conference was organized by the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute at the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Geological Institute in Rytro.
