Noble campaign

|   COVID

Today and tomorrow, employees of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa are donating blood and plasma in the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Racibórz as well as in local branches. Nearly 300 people declared their readiness to share this valuable gift.

- We conducted the first campaign of this kind with JSW one month ago and we had a record number of blood and plasma donations; 270 collections is a result that we have not had for nearly 3 years. This statistic is a perfect illustration how amazing professional group miners are – we can always count on them – emphasizes Gizela Kowol, director of the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Racibórz.

In connection with the coronavirus pandemic and the increased number of the hospitalized people, Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa decided to become actively involved in the blood and plasma donation campaign for the second time. The miners waited in lines since early morning to share this precious gift.

– This summer, because of the pandemic, blood is in short supply in hospitals. This is a simple and painless way, in which we can help those who need help. I would like to encourage everyone to join this campaign – Mirosław Mokry, employee of the Jastrzębie-Bzie mine appeals.

Maciej Buczkowski has donated blood ever since he turned eighteen. – I believe that we need to donate blood and plasma. This costs nothing but lots of good can come out of it. In my family, blood donations are passed from father to son. My father donated blood, I am also a blood donor and I will encourage my kids to follow in our footsteps – Buczkowski says.

During the special campaign, blood and plasma can be donated also tomorrow, on August 8th. The RCKiK employees will be waiting for your from 8am to 3pm in the Center’s headquarters in Racibórz and in its local branches in Rybnik, Jastrzębie-Zdrój and Wodzisław Śląski. We encourage all those interested to take active part in the campaign.

Please remember that your plasma contains antibodies, which are used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Plasma can be donated by the people who had been infected by coronavirus and then confirmed recovery by two negative results of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA test. Volunteers must not have received transfusion of blood or its components in the past. Eligible donors are from 18 to 60 years old, with no chronic diseases and receiving no permanent medication.
