Yesterday (11 July 2019) in Czerwionka-Leszczyny, JSW signed an agreement with Rybnik County to extend the Company’s existing cooperation with local schools for another school year.

Today (12 July 2019) in Jastrzębie-Zdrój, a similar agreement was signed between JSW and the city of Jastrzębie-Zdrój. The execution of the agreement will enable the parties to continue their existing cooperation and expand its coverage to include students who recently enrolled in three secondary schools for their first school year (of 2019/2020) in these educational institutions.

According to representatives of local governments, the agreements signed with JSW, which offer a guarantee of employment to students after graduation and monthly scholarships during their school attendance years, have significantly improved the enrollment numbers in mining classes. “This year, we have full enrollment for all specializations. This applies to both our trade school and our technical school,” says Natalia Kuś, Principal of the School Complex in Czerwionka-Leszczyny. The enrollment figures are also much higher in Jastrzębie-Zdrój in terms of the number of students interested in joining classes specializing in teaching mining professions.

“All parties gain from JSW’s cooperation with schools in our region. As a mining company, we need professionals. Also, owing to job opportunities at JSW, young talented people do not move out of the region when they grow up. And this makes us very happy,” said Artur Wojtków, Vice-President of the JSW Management Board for Employment and Social Policy.

Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa cooperates with eight schools in our region.
